Michael Handler, a San Francisco Bay Area native, has had a varied creative life in music, media, computers and film. As a leading blues and jazz musician in his adopted state of New Mexico, Michael has led bands, appeared in numerous Festivals and club dates, as well as participated in several recording projects. He is an award-winning song writer and harmonica player, as well as a leading jazz and blues DJ for public radio in Santa Fe, NM. With his career in commercial radio and television spanning 40 years, Michael has branched out into film production as a crew member and background actor since moving to New Mexico 14 years ago.
His list of credits include art department, grip, and PA work, as well as background talent on several major motion pictures, local productions and student films. He had appeared in two Coen Brother’s movies in the last 4 years, as well as other international and Hollywood productions. He has a credential in film training from Santa Fe Community College and is OSHA certified.
Michael’s creative talents have suited him well for radio, voice over work and commercial production. His work life in California included computer sales as the dawn of the PC era, television technical directing, radio announcing, writing for downbeat jazz magazine, consulting for on-line businesses and being a Regional Sales Manager for a leading industrial equipment company. He continues to contribute his voice for jazz and blues Public Radio shows, play in his popular blues band (The Blues Revue), and record for various CD projects in and around Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is a sought-after business consultant in media and Internet startups, and continues to grow and be a creative force in these and other endeavors.
